Week 6 Assignment 2:2

 

Using Edmodo in the classroom is a great way to enhance the learning experience. First, technology motivates students and engages them in the lesson. In addition, in this way, learning is not limited to school. Students can use Edmodo in their free time, as well. Students also learn to collaborate with their peers and use technology correctly. Edmodo also has excellent features that improve the learning experience. For example, the quiz feature provides teachers with an easy way to create and grade quizzes. Teachers can choose from different formats, including fill-ins, multiple choice, short answers, and matching, according to their preferences. Students enjoy using it as they get to see how they did  right away. Another feature, discover allows teachers to access all types of educational resources which they can use to improve instruction. The calendar is used to help students stay organized and informed of upcoming deadlines, tests and events. The library is where teachers upload and organize pictures, videos, documents and other resources that they would like to save or share with the class. In addition, the progress feature allows teachers to keep track of students grades and mark their progress in a simple, organized way.  These are just some of the many amazing features Edmodo has to offer.

  Assignment 1: With the advancements of technology, there have been so many changes to the word, including in literacy instruction. While teaching literacy used to include the use of books, papers and pens, it is no longer sufficient. Nowadays, students must become familiar with new literacies to be successful in the future. For instance, they must learn to navigate the internet, research information and engage in multimedia to acquire literacy. There are many benefits to implementing new literacies. Week 4 Assignments

 Assignment 1: The game Carrie the Caregiver is a great way to teach students time management skills and responsibility. The game does not include much text aside from the instructions and how much points gained or lost. Players see what the baby needs by the thought bubbles with pictures coming from the crying babies. The visual-graphic elements include everything in 3D and the player drags Carrie and the babies around to perform the tasks. The audio elements include music playing and babies screaming in the background to give the game a realistic feel and engage the player in the game. The goal of the game is to keep the babies happy and attend to their needs quickly. The rules are to drag Carrie around to perform the tasks and to make each baby happy before it is too late.
