Week 3 Assignment 1 and 2: New Literacies
Assignment 1: With the advancements of technology, there have been so many changes to the word, including in literacy instruction. While teaching literacy used to include the use of books, papers and pens, it is no longer sufficient. Nowadays, students must become familiar with new literacies to be successful in the future. For instance, they must learn to navigate the internet, research information and engage in multimedia to acquire literacy. There are many benefits to implementing new literacies. For instance, it motivates and engages students, prepares them for the future and teaches them important skills. As educators, it is our jobs to teach students these important skills and use ICT’s. However, as technology advances, new literacies also continue to advance.
